Ask the recipient about the language
Ask the foreign recipient whether an English KVK extract is sufficient. Also inquire about the maximum age, digital or paper, and any requirements for translation or legalization. An English version is not automatically usable in every country or with every authority. Acceptance is determined by that recipient. Also read the questions you can ask the recipient in advance.
Choose language and delivery method
The KVK offers English for both digital and paper certified extracts. With digital you will receive a PDF with an electronic seal; in the case of paper, a copy sent by post with a paper stamp. Choose the language and delivery form separately and check both in the order overview. A print of a digitally certified document does not become a paper original. Compare the digital and paper delivery method.
Need another language?
The KVK does not translate everything in the English version. According to its ordering advice, the company description, extensive restrictions of a power of attorney and some job titles remain untranslated. If the recipient needs such a passage in English, discuss in advance whether a separate translation is required. Our website can also be read in other languages, but the KVK document is only available in Dutch or partly in English via this route.
What if legalization is necessary?
A KVK seal confirms the origin of the extract; it does not arrange any foreign formalities. Let the recipient indicate whether an apostille, legalization or certified translation is required and in what order. Arrange this before ordering a copy, so that you know which delivery method to choose.
For use outside the Netherlands
- Does the recipient accept a partially English KVK document?
- Does the recipient want the original digital PDF or a paper extract?
- Is a separate translation, apostille or legalization required?
- How recent should the document be?
